Since 1949, the South Bridge Boathouse has been proudly owned and operated by the Rohan family. Now in our third generation, we continue the tradition of providing the public with a relaxing and memorable experience on the water. Today, we offer canoe and kayak rentals for locals and visitors alike, carrying forward over 75 years of dedication to outdoor enjoyment and community connection.

Single Kayak

$26.00 per hour

$78.00 Day Rate

Single kayaks are for individuals that are looking to paddle on their own. Our Single kayaks are Old Town Dirigos and have a weight limit of 350 lbs.

Tandem Kayak

$34.00 per hour

$100.00 day rate

Tandem kayaks are for two people only. Our Tandem kayaks are Old Town Dirigo plus’s and have a weight limit of 475 lbs.

Canoes

$26.00 per hour (canoes 1-2 ppl)

$78.00 day rate (canoes 1-2 ppl)

$34.00 per hour (canoes 3-6 ppl)

$100.00 day rate (canoes 3-6 ppl)

Canoes are a great way to travel with the whole family in one boat. We offer Old Town fiberglass canoes as well as Grumman Aluminum canoes. We have weight limits for canoes and may not be able to accommodate 6 people per canoe. Please call for details.

Rental FAQ’S

Do you have parking close to the boathouse?

Yes. We offer parking right across the street from the boathouse. Our address is 496 Main st. Concord Ma, 01742.

Do you allow public launching at your site?

No. We do not offer public launching. There is a boat launch in Concord Ma - Lowell Road Boat Ramp. It is free and open to the public.

Do you offer group rates?

Yes. For group reservations please call us for more information.

How far can you go on the river?

You can go up to 10- 16 miles. Each river has its own limits so please call for more information.

Are there any destinations on the river to paddle to?

Destination #1, you can paddle to the historic Old North Bridge in approximately 1 to 1.5 hours round trip.

Destination #2 you can paddle to Fair Haven Bay. This route typically takes between 2 and 3 hours.

Is there a current on the river?

Yes, there is a mild current that can vary slightly depending on the weather, but it remains very manageable for most paddlers.

Do you have restrooms on site?

Yes. We have a full operational bathroom on site.

Do you sell water or refreshments?

We do not sell water nor refreshments on site.

Do you have children’s life jackets?

Yes, we do have jackets that will fit children of all sizes.

Do you allow dogs?

Yes, dogs are permitted on the premises. They must be kept on a leash at all times and owners are responsible for their behavior. Life jackets are available for rent at a rate of $5.00.

Do you have age restrictions?

To rent a canoe or kayak independently, individuals must be 18 years old. Children aged 10 and older may operate their own boat if accompanied by an adult.

What are your hours of operation?

Our summer hours of operation are as follows. Please note that we may close in the event of inclement weather, such as rain or thunderstorms. We recommend calling ahead on rainy days to confirm we are open.

Tuesday- Friday 10am-7pm

Saturday - Sunday 9am - 7pm

Holidays- Memorial Day, Mothers Day, Juneteenth, Fathers Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day. Open 9am- 7pm on the holidays listed above.

Do you take reservations?

No. Rentals are first come first serve. We do not take reservations unless parties would like to rent 10 or more boats.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept most major credit cards and cash. We do not accept personal checks.

Do You pay by the hour?

Rentals are pro rated by the 1/4 hour after the first hour.

How long is the rental for?

You can rent our canoes or kayaks for as long as you’d like. You have to be back before closing.

What does the rental include?

All rentals include a personal flotation device (life jacket), paddle and assistance with getting in and out of our canoes or kayaks.

Do you rent dry bags?

Yes. We rent dry bags for $3.00 per dry bag.

Can you bring a picnic and set up along the river banks?

Yes. Once you arrive to the boathouse ask our staff for the best spots!

Do you allow fishing on the canoes and kayaks?

Yes. We do allow fishing on our boats but do not provide equipment or bait.
